Kolkata: State Education minister Bratya Basu has announced a reshuffle within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) Shiksha Cell, leading to the exclusion of several members from various associations. Basu, who is also the chairman of the Shiksha Cell, revealed the changes on Tuesday evening.
One of the significant changes was seen in the West Bengal College and University Professors’ Association (WBCUPA), with Basu releasing the names of 35 district committee presidents and 19 university committee presidents. At the state committee level, Selim Box Mandal has been appointed vice-president, replacing Manishankar Mondal, who was expelled from the TMC for ‘anti-party activities’. In addition, Maidul Islam, former president of the West Bengal Primary Teachers’ Association (WBTPTA) and Pritam Halder, former working president of the West Bengal Secondary Teachers’ Association, were removed from their positions due to similar reasons. Halder was expelled from the party for alleged anti-party activities.
Following the reshuffle, Palash Sadhukhan has been appointed president of the WBTPTA, while Ujjwal Kumar Modak has taken over as working president of the WBTSTA.
Basu stated that these changes were made with the approval and direction of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and in consultation with the recommendations of 35 organisational district presidents of the party.
