In the run up to her big meeting with industry captains in New Delhi on Monday, the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee told key industrialists of her state on Friday that Bengal would lead the country from the national capital one day. ‘The Chief Minister keeps meeting industrialists and assures them of all help for investment every month. She will be doing so in Delhi on Monday. The same group of industrialists are also expected to attend the Delhi meet’, TMC MP Sisir Adhikari said.
Emphasising the importance of regional parties in national politics, Banerjee said, ‘Regional parties understand better regional and national aspirations. They understand the needs of the people.’ Among the industrialists present at the meeting on Friday were Vijay Mallya, Kumarmangalam Birla, Karan Paul, Sanjiv Goenka and Harsh Neotia.
On the issue of land, Banerjee asked potential investors in the audience to examine the new land allotment policy that proposed to auction government land for industry and give the state a more proactive role in the process.
