The employees of various nationalised banks came together on Saturday to press for their demand of improvement in service conditions and wage revision at Jantar Mantar.

They also sent a seven point memorandum to the union finance minister Arun Jaitley.

‘A separate commission for equalisation of wages of public sector banks should be set up to study the workload, risks, responsibilities, transfer and promotion policy. The commission should emphasis on equality in pay and work condition of the banks with central government,’ said Manish Kumar, a bank employee.

The seven point memorandum also includes protection and ‘one rank one pension’ to the ex-servicemen of the banks, and provisions of minimum wage act for canteen boys.

‘We demand the central government to constitute a special commission to look into the causes of NPAs, various financial scams and irregularities in insurance and mutual find areas,’ said Saransh Srivastava, another young bank employee leading the protest.

‘We used social media to spread our message and motivated the young bankers to come together to fight for their cause,’ added Srivastava.
