Having experienced many Battle of the Bands competitions in the past – where heavy metal and classic rock bands dominate – two guys decided it was time give indie rock bands the chance they deserve. There is so much fresh talent out there which is overlooked, and we wanted to provide a platform to showcase these up and coming musicians. Meet Andy Dodd and Nathan Steele.
Dodd says, 'Through our selection process we’ve managed to unearth some really great indie and alternative rock talent. This is the kind of fresh, vibrant music which must be heard by all live-music lovers in Delhi.’ ‘All the time I’ve lived in Delhi it’s felt like there was a gap in the live music scene. It turns out that there are great indie bands out there. They just haven’t had the exposure they deserve,’ adds Steele.
Sixty bands registered their interest in the competition, and this was then whittled down to the best twelve by the Delhi Indie Night judges. The twelve chosen bands will now battle it out over four Saturdays in April until one overall winner is announced at the grand final on 27 April.
The bands that will be performing are: The Alibi, Our Hour, Route 3, Reuben Cheriyan, The Vinyl Records, The Underknowns, The F16’s, Pilgrim, The Incredible Mindfunk, The Last Puff, The Riot Peddlers and Tarik.
