The Ayurvedic dispensaries and hospitals in east Delhi are running without medicines as most of the medicines are out of stock. In a shocking revelation the department accepted that it could not expend even a single rupee of its budget allocation to purchase medicines.
According to account department the department was allocated Rs 29.85 lakh to purchase medinces for the financial year 2012-13 but so for it could not expend even a single penny. Similarly, Homoeopathy and Unani departments could not expend their budgets of Rs 4.32 lakh and Rs 3.57 lakh respectively. ‘The poor people generally go to traditional medicines but absence of medinces shows poor condition of the department,’ said Lata Gupta, Deputy Chairman of Standing Committee who had asked the information.
The situation of Allopathic department is also worsening as around one third post of doctors are lying vacant. As per the record of the department posts of 76 doctors and 166 group B employees are vacant.
