A section of auto and taxi unions will take out a protest march against app-based taxi services in the national Capital on Monday.
“Hundreds of autorickshaw and taxi drivers will take out a protest march with their vehicles from Samatha Sthal to Delhi Secretariat tomorrow,” said Rajendra Soni, general secretary of auto and taxi unions. He said for the past two months, they have been demanding the government to control the operation of app-based taxi services, which is taking away their livelihood.
“If the government does not pay heed to our demand immediately, all taxis and autorickshaws will go off roads soon,” he said.
“App-based taxi services are affecting our business and we cannot sit silent. The government should stop their services as most of the app-based cab operators are not following the rules,” he added.
There are around 13,000 black-yellow taxis and 81,000 autorickshaws plying on the streets of the national Capital.
