Taking note of the recent wall collapse incident in school where a seven-year-old child was killed, Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate Chandra Kant has asked officials to provide survey report of all unaffiliated schools in the district which flout security norms. He has ordered probe into the matter.

Chandra Kant has ordered the concerned official to identify unaffiliated schools in the entire GB Nagar district and ensure that ‘they are shut down in a stipulated time’. ‘We have directed officials to ascertain exact number of unaffiliated schools running in district. These schools will be shut and all their students will be shifted to nearby government schools,’ Chandra Kant said.

Meanwhile, the students who were injured in the wall collapse incidents have shown signs of recovery. Doctors said that 15 students were discharged from the district hospital on Friday. ‘The rest of four children are under observation. In addition to this, two out of four students who were rushed to LNJP Hospital in Delhi, have been sent back here after they responded to the treatment,’ said a doctor.

The district magistrate said that the medical expenses of injured students are taken care of by the district administration. ‘We have ensured that all the students are given proper treatment in government or private hospital wherever they are admitted. We have also deployed a team of doctors to visit door-to-door in the village and provide medical treatment to the injured students, if they find any,’ he said. Meanwhile, the police on Thursday night arrested Praveen, one of the two accused, who owned the under-construction site which collapsed on the school students. The district education officials have lodged an FIR against the school management and principal.
