Aspersions cast on ministry’s role unfortunate: Vardhan

Perturbed by media reports accusing him of removing Medical Council of India (MCI) CVO, the union health minister Harsh Vardhan on Saturday clarified that such reports are baseless and end up confusing people. ‘Some reports say I have removed him, which is absurd.

Others say that I put the officer to personal risk by not repatriating him, which is equally untrue,’ Harsh Vardhan said.

‘The CVO in question, HK Jethi, an officer of the Indian Ordnance Factories Service, was unhappy with his appointment which goes back to 3 October, 2013. He had written three letters (dated 29 April, 2014, 25 August, 2014 and 1 October, 2014) to the Ministry of Health requesting repatriation to his parent cadre,’ the press statement released from the ministry on Saturday said.

‘The fact of the matter is that the ministry had indeed forwarded his applications to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT),’ the statement further read.
