Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) strategists have vowed to implement the promises made by the party on water and electricity within a couple of days.
‘The poll promise to provide 700 litres of water per day to a family is financially viable. It can be implemented by just an administrative order to waive off the charges in that range,’ claimed Sanjay Sharma, research head at Citizen Front for Water Democracy (CFWD). ‘We conducted proper research before suggesting AAP to include the promise in its poll manifesto. It will slice away just Rs 469 crore from over Rs 500 crore profit Delhi Jal Board (DJB) is making annually,’ he added.
CFWD is an NGO, which AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal’s request, conducted a feasibility research to implement the scheme in the city.
Talking about the second most talked about promise of AAP to bring down power tariff by 50 per cent, the party on Monday said that is was feasible to implement the plan. ‘It’s an AAP impact that BSES has withdrawn its demand of another hike in power tariff,’ said Irfan Ullah Khan, who was AAP candidate from Okhla. The MLA of the party could not give any roadmap to implement other promises such as 500 schools, development of unauthorised colonies and setting up more fast-track courts but said they had full faith in Kejriwal to come true on these poll promises.
