“We are analysing the calls to segregate the real calls from frivolous ones. The real calls are being sent to Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) for further action,” said a senior officer of Delhi government. He further informed that the helpline would work 24x7 for all 365 days of the year.
The helpline was re-launched by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a function in Talkatora Stadium on Sunday evening. “Some of the cases being forwarded to the ACB include complaints against the Delhi Police, MCD, Education Department, Transport Department, Jal Board, and Delhi Fire Service,” he added. He informed that the data of calls received and segregated will be made public on a regular basis for the convenience and information of the public.
“There are sufficient number of employees to attend calls, however, efforts are being made to ensure that no call made on 1031 helpline number remains unanswered,” informed the officer.
As per the procedure of the ACB, the information and recordings produced by the caller will be used only as the initial input. On the basis of feasibility to lay trap, a plot will be hatched by the ACB officers to catch miscreants red handed.
“The recordings and evidences collected by the ACB officers during the trap will be used as proofs in court,” he added. The government has however, doubled the number of staff in ACB but even the officers deployed in the ACB accept that it would not be possible to lay trap on all the calls but off course the action against a few would act as deterrent for many.
After the launch of the anti-corruption helpline during the previous AAP government, ACB had arrested several officers in power and from the Delhi Jal Board.
