In yet another blunder in recruitment process at University of Delhi, a teacher from a particular community, who applied for a job under general category, was admitted under OBC category.
Ambika, who belonged to the Jat community, applied for assistant professor’s (Chemistry) job at Hansraj College under general quota but she was rather admitted under OBC category.
Ambika had applied for the job in 2013 when the applications for same were invited through advertisement by the college. In the advertisement, it was mentioned there were six vacancies under general category, one under ST category and two each in OBC and SC category.
Shockingly, the documents have revealed that Ambika sat for the qualifying exam under general category. But during her interview, which happened in December 2014, she was admitted under OBC category. It is interesting to mention that in July 2014, the university had issued a notice to include Jats under OBC category in cases of recruitments for teaching and non-teaching staff, for all the recruitments initiated after March 4, 2014. However, the recruitment process of Ambika started way back in 2013.
Sources in the university have blamed college authorities for the blunder. No college official could be reached for comments.
