Anna keeps IAC, gets new team on board

After formation of Team Anna 2 on Saturday, anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare on Sunday inaugurated its new office in Sarvodaya Enclave. It also won the name of the organisation – India Against Corruption – under which agitation was being run before the split in the group in which Arvind Kejriwal and his supporters took the political route.

After inaugurating his new office, Hazare accused PM Manmohan Singh of betrayal on the Jan Lokpal Bill issue. The anti-graft crusader also warned of another protest if the Jan Lokpal Bill was not passed before the 2014 general election. He said, 'If the Jan Lokpal Bill is not passed before the 2014 elections, we will hold another rally at Ramlila Maidan.'

He said the PM had betrayed him by not fulfilling his pledge to pass the Anti-Corruption Bill in parliament. 'Our fight for Jan Lokpal Bill will continue till it is passed by the government. I will campaign throughout the country and try to raise the conscience of the people. I will try to bring in change, he said.

Since the split, there was a lot of inside tussle going on between the two groups over the name of the organisation, but Kejriwal announcement of not using it after the formation of his political party on 26 November has halted any further battle on the issue. 'Anna is too dear to us. I have deepest respects for him. After launch of our party on 26 Nov, we will not use IAC name,' tweeted Kejriwal.

Hazare said that the time has come to reach out to every house in the country and spread the message of anti-corruption. 'We have to work for a corruption-free India,' he said. 'Gandhiji said that to change the country we must first change our villages. That will lead to development. If people could be changed with money, then Tatas and Birlas would have done it,' he said.

Hazare had on Saturday announced a new 15-member team.
