Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah on Sunday emphasised that his party has preserved 'internal democracy' and has provisions to elect <g data-gr-id="23">president</g> from amongst <g data-gr-id="29">booth-level</g> workers.
“We have successfully completed the renewal of membership and became the world’s largest political party with over 11 crore members,” said Shah, addressing a meeting of BJP representatives from eight North Indian states at the Civic Centre.
The meeting was organised to review Mahasampark Abhiyan launched by the party, recently. Shah said the BJP had spread its base in South Indian states and also in the North-east, where it did not have a significant presence.
“We have registered 3-20 times increase in membership in Southern states, which has helped us identify our <g data-gr-id="22">booth-level</g> workers throughout the country,” he said.
Shah announced that his party would train supporters to tap their energy in nation building. “We have a target to train 15 lakh party workers,” added Shah.
“The Centre will soon start working on 24 new ideas, which will connect the government with masses,” he said. The BJP president also directed the workers to work hard to spread good work of the Narendra <g data-gr-id="25">Modi-government</g> among people.
