After the private vehicle of an air force wing commander was stolen from south Delhi’s Moti Bagh area on Friday night, security has been further beefed up in the city.
The stolen Swift Dezire that belongs to wing commander Jabardeep Singh, has a sticker of the defence ministry and important documents that belong to the officer, said police.
Police couldn’t track the car till Saturday evening but confirmed that the documents in the car only includes Singh’s identity card and some papers related to the vehicle. “No ‘confidential’ papers were there in the stolen vehicles”, said a police officer.
Delhi had received terror threats through intelligence inputs on Friday, following which, Delhi Police’s SWAT and HIT teams were deployed at important public places including the airport, railway stations, bus terminals, metro stations and crowded markets.
One of the first HIT teams – with specially trained officials and fully equipped with armours that include modernised guns —was launched by the north district of Delhi Police.
They laid vigil at areas which include Red Fort, Fountain Chowk, Fountain Chowk, Bungalow Road (near the Kamla Nagar robbery spot) and Vidhan Sabha.
After the car theft incident, security was enhanced specially around the Delhi borders in which routine check was strengthened manifold, said a senior official.
