In view of the present threat by terrorists, anti-social elements and criminals, the Delhi Police are on their toes and has planned to keep a extra vigil on districts adjoining neighbouring state borders like Haryana and UP. The cops positioned at the pickets at the border areas would be equipped with sophisticated weapons to combat any terrorist if the need arises.
South-east district shares its borders with two neighbouring states at Faridabad in Haryana and Noida in Uttar Pradesh.
The DCP South-east Romil Baniya said: “We are aware that our borders touch neighbouring states. We have made arrangements that the cops on duty at the borders would be given big and small sophisticated guns and ample supply of ammunition to nail down any suspect in case of any eventuality during checking.”
Apart from securing the border areas, massive and elaborate security arrangements have been made at various locations like malls, markets and hotels in the whole of Delhi. The cops have also increased the tenant verification process and also relying on local intelligence inputs about new people who have rented accommodations in hotels or houses in Delhi.
The agency have also said that all flights which will take off from New Delhi would be monitored.
The CISF, which guards the high-valued installations, has also been asked to maintain extra vigil with deployment of additional personnel at airport and Metro and carry out intensive searches of all passengers.
Earlier, the Delhi Police in view of the threat perception from the sky had banned the flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms like para gliders, para motors, hang gliders, UAVs, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, etc.
