Addressing a meeting of the 2nd Green Revolution (SGR) in Patna, Singh said the responsibility for reviewing and implementation of agricultural activities to bring second green revolution in the eastern region was assigned to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
The coordination between agricultural activities, being implemented in eastern states by the Centre, would expedite the overall agricultural development in the region, he said.
Urging members to speed up agriculture development programmes in the region so that PM Narendra Moidi’s dream of “minimum government, maximum governance” could be achieved, he said, “The eastern states contribute 50, 45 and 38 per cent towards the production of rice, vegetables and fish, respectively, at the national level.
Moreover, the region has the potential to achieve significant production of milk, meat, pulses and oilseeds through overall development of agriculture.”
