Adille Sumariwalla re-elected as AFI prez

Adille Sumariwalla was on Friday re-elected unopposed as the president of Athletics Federation of India (AFI) for a second term at its Annual General Body Meeting here.

Sumariwalla was the lone nomination received for the top post and was declared elected president for the term 2016-2020 by the returning officer Justice (Retd) Kailash Gambhir on the first day of the AFI AGM here. The AGM will continue on Saturday.

Sumariwalla, a 11-time 100m national champion and 1980 Moscow Games Olympian and now a member of the prestigious governing council of the IAAF, was elected for his first term as AFI chief in 2012.
