Acid attack on woman over minor feud

A 25-year-old woman sustained burn injuries on her hand after she was attacked with acid by two men at northeast Delhi’s Nand Nagri area on Thursday night. One of the accused has been arrested.

The incident took place on late Thursday night, when the victim identified as Pooja was at her residence. The victim and her uncle indulged had an argument with the accused over some domestic issue, who are their neighbours. When the argument turned violent, the two accused identified as Golu and Kaliya threw acid on her and fled the spot. It was learnt during the investigation that the accused was already carrying an acid bottle with him.

Pooja has received 10 per cent burn injuries on her right hand and was immediately rushed to the nearby Guru Teg Bahadur hospital. She underwent treatment and she was discharged from the hospital on Friday morning. ‘One of the accused was nabbed from his residence while the other is still at large’, said a police officer. Further investigation revealed that the accused often involve in fight with other neighbours as well. A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against  the accused.
