In a letter to the Directorate of Vigilance on June 26, that was leaked to the media on Friday, Additional CP <g data-gr-id="47">S S</g> Yadav called the posting of Joint CP as ‘unauthorised’ and said that he was ‘illegally occupying an office’ in the ACB.
“Meena asked me to hand over the FIR book as he wanted to show it to some top authority. As he is illegally keeping an armed unit of the CRPF with him, I feel threatened,” said Yadav, adding that he had objected to <g data-gr-id="49">hand</g> over the register to him as it was illegal.
“He demanded to see two specific cases related to <g data-gr-id="42">arrest</g> of Delhi Police personnel that are pending in Delhi high court and Supreme Court,” added Yadav.
In the letter, Yadav has expressed fears that his and that of his colleagues’ offices may be bugged and they, including him, could be ousted from the ACB. Demanding legal action, Yadav alleged that a conspiracy is being hatched to put his life in danger.
Meanwhile, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday said the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) chief Mukesh Kumar Meena was accused of money laundering and a probe was ordered against him in May.
Meena was appointed as ACB chief by Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on June 8 superseding Additional Commissioner SS Yadav. The Delhi government has objected to the appointment of Meena.
“Mukesh Kumar Meena was involved in Hawala scam along with the curtain scam. A probe against him in hawala scam was ordered on May 1. The ACB is probing the matter,” Sisodia said.
He said his government has written to the union home ministry over corruption complaints against Meena.
“Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has sent a note to the union home minister in connection with how Meena had been involved in hawala and certain scams.”
“I hope the Home Minister will take cognisance of the matter and take appropriate action....” Addressing the Delhi Assembly, Sisodia raised serious concern over <g data-gr-id="52">appointment</g> of Meena as ACB chief by Jung on the directions of the Central government. “I am surprised how a person against whom a probe is underway in the ACB can be made its chief. It seems that hawala operators are behind Meena’s appointment as ACB chief. He was appointed deliberately to a post which does not even exist in ACB,” he said.
