On the eve of Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s martyrdom, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has urged for the observation of March 23 as Desh Divas. Some other senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party have also posted their messages on social media platforms.
“March 23 is the day when Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh had laid down his life for the country. We all should observe the day as ‘Desh Divas’ and do some noble work for the country as per our choice,” said Kejriwal in the message. The message has been posted on the party’s social media site, on behalf Kerjiwal as the party’s leader and not the Delhi Chief Minister.
The other leaders, who have posted their message on Desh Divas are – Delhi’s deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, AAP leader Sanjay Singh, Kumar Vishawas, APP general secretary (national) Pankaj Gupta, AAP leader Vishal Dadlani, AAP’s Delhi convenor Ashutosh and several politicians from Punjab. The message also includes Abhijet Singh, grandson of Bhagat Singh. “Don’t confine yourself just by offering floral tributes to the martyr’s statues but do some noble work on this occasion,” said Vishal Dadlani.
It’s important to mention that AAP is expanding its base in Punjab, from where it had claimed the largest vote share during Lok Sabha Election-2014 and all the four MPs had won from there. The party has decided to contest from Punjab in the upcoming Assembly elections in 2017 and has already started preparations to constitute booth level teams.
