Keeping aside all speculations, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday said there is no question to form the government in Delhi with any party’s support. AAP said that it has sought re-election in Delhi since the day the party supremo Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the chief ministership.
‘Media is again resorting to rumours about AAP. There is no question of forming the government in Delhi again with any party’s support. While BJP and Congress waited for general elections to get over, AAP has sought re-elections since the day of resignation, when both the Congress and BJP came together to stop the introduction of Jan Lokpal bill in the Assembly, said a statement from the party.
Responding to speculations that a section of AAP legislators wanted the party to take power again with the help of Congress, senior leader and party spokesperson Ashutosh told Millennium Post over phone that AAP will maintain its stand and will not form government at any cost with the help of any party.
When asked about his party MLA from ‘Rohini’ constituency, Rajesh Garg reportedly asked the party to once again form the government in Delhi, with support from either the BJP or Congress, Ashutosh said that it can be his personal view, but not the official stand of the party.
In a house of 70, the AAP has 27 legislators and Congress has eight. The BJP has 31 legislators but three of them have now become MPs. Delhi has been under President’s rule since February 14 when AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal resigned over his failure to pass the Jan Lokpal bill in the Assembly.
AAP had won 28 seats in its debut assembly elections last year and later formed the government with outside support from Congress.
