Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley claimed that Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) governance is unconventional and has confused substance with style.
Jaitley, through his website, mentioned that publicity without substantive governance was simply gimmickry the continuance of which would invite public ridicule and anger.
‘Responsible governance has a lasting impact but gimmickry is always short-lived. The AAP government is now becoming a victim of its own style. The sooner it realises that, it would have an opportunity to correct the error into which it is falling,’ he said.
Jaitley, while claiming that now the voters are ruthless and their bar has been raised, hinted that they should not be taken for granted. ‘They (voters) vote in a government and can turn their anger towards the same if it fails to perform,’ he said.
While describing that good governance should involves policy formulation and its implementation, the leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha said, ‘Policies have to be sound and based on established principles while their implementation has to done in a transparent and honest manner.
Getting positive publicity for serious governance can be a part of clever politics blended with good governance.
Publicity without governance is gimmickry’.
