AAP govt completes 100 days in office

AAP Government has completed 100 days in office. After creating history by winning 67 of 70 seats in Assembly elections, party convenor Arvind Kejriwal had taken oath on 14th February 2015 as Chief Minister along with his cabinet colleagues Shri Manish Sisodia (Deputy Chief Minister), Cabinet Ministers Shri Gopal Rai, Shri Satyender Jain, Shri Jitender Singh Tomar, Shri Asim Ahmed Khan and Shri Sandeep Kumar.

Ever since Kejriwal has assumed office, the Delhi Government has started working on welfare measurements by rolling out various schemes fulfilling its promises made to people of Delhi. One of the first major decison Kejriwal made after taking the reins was announcing 50% reduction in electricity tariffs starting March 1 and making upto 20,000 litres of free water available to every household. 

Addressing the grievances of contractual employees, Delhi Government decided to award relief to them by announcing that terminating of services will not take place till further orders.

In order to curb increasing incidents of smuggling, 9 people were arrested for liquid smuggling including Excise officials. The Delhi government has also directed that existing street vendors/hawkers under the territorial jurisdiction of Delhi shall be allowed to operate till the exercise of their registration and creation of vending/hawking zone is finalized. 

Taking stock of swine flu situation, Delhi Government designated 2 more labs for Swine Flu Tests in addition to granting licenses to 40 stores for selling swine flu medicines. The state government has also capped the rate of tests in private labs at a maximum of Rs 4500, after receiving reports that some labs were earlier charging upto Rs 12,000.

AAP also announced a compensation for the family of a CRPF jawan killed in a landmine blast.
Overall, The AAP government has started on a good note, however 100 days is a short duration to determine the success of a government. It would be interesting to note how party fares in the coming days.
