AAP forms panel to decide action against Binny

Taking a serious note of rebel MLA Vinod Kumar Binny’s anti- party activities, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday constituted a five member disciplinary action committee to look into the issue. The party had said earlier that if Binny is upset with the party then he can leave the party.

‘The committee will be chaired by Pankaj Gupta, while Gopal Rai, Iliyas Azmi, Yogendra Yadav and Ashish Talwar will be members of the committee,’ the party said in a press release to the media.

Delhi chief minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal had earlier said that if Binny was upset, he is free to leave the party. Binny had responded to the show-cause notice issued against him by AAP asking the party to provide him with a copy of the party’s constitution and also the clause under which he was being pulled up.

‘He has asked the party to provide him with a copy of its constitution and explain the clause under which he was sent the show cause notice. The response does not say anything further,’ AAP spokesperson Deepak Vajpayee had said.

Binny is likely to be expelled by AAP after he attacked the party leadership and the Delhi government.

Binny, who had called Kejriwal a “dictator” and accused his government of cheating people, however, maintained that he would not join any other political party, including BJP or Congress.

‘I will stay in AAP and talk about party’s policies and points. If AAP sacks me, I will still demand implementation of its policies,’ he said. He alleged that AAP took decisions behind closed doors, but posed before the people as if these decisions were taken before the people.

‘I have asked Kejriwal that assurances given to the people of Delhi should be fulfilled. He should let me know by 26 January and if I am not satisfied, I will sit on an indefinite fast from 27 January,’ he told reporters after visiting the Saibaba Temple in Shirdi.
