AAP, on Monday, demanded the immediate suspension of CBI director Ranjit Sinha for compromising the investigating agency through his unbecoming behaviour. It has been reported that Sinha held secret meetings with the accused in cases probed by the agency. Sinha has already changed his statements thrice in an unsuccessful attempt to defend his meetings with top officials of Reliance Telecom, which is one of the main accused in the 2G telecom spectrum scam.AAP, in a press statement said, ‘Sinha first stated that the entries in the visitors’ register at his official residence, which have now come out in the public domain, are fake.

When that claim did not hold, he changed his stand and raked up the issue of privacy.’ ‘Is meeting the accused at his official residence in cases being probed by the CBI an issue of privacy?’ asked AAP. ‘The third time he justified his meetings, saying it is his right to hear all points of view. It has now become increasingly clear that Sinha has not only maintained a close contact with the key accused in the 2G scam, he was also in touch with some accused of the coal blocks allocation scam and a meat exporter involved in tax evasion running into hundreds of crores. What is shocking is that Sinha has indulged in an inappropriate behaviour in cases which are are being probed by the CBI on directions of the Supreme Court,’ said the statement.
