Airports Authority of India (AAI), which is under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, has paid a dividend of Rs 171.9 crore to the Union government for financial year 2011-12 compared to a figure of Rs 169.30 crore for the previous fiscal (2010-11). The organisation has been making profits right since its inception.
For the financial year 2011-12, Airports Authority of India earned revenues of Rs 5,879 crore, which is considerably higher than the previous year's sum of Rs 5,139 crores.AAI's profit before tax (PBT) for 2011-12 was Rs 1,364 crore compared to Rs 1,346 crore in 2010-11.
During financial year 2011-12, Airports Authority of India spent Rs 2,095 crore for the modernisation of its airports, terminal buildings, passenger facilities and air traffic and navigational aids. The total amount spent for under these heads in the previous fiscal was Rs 2,503 crore.
The Rs 171.90 crore cheque for the dividend was presented to Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh by Airports Authority of India Chairman V P Agrawal in the presence of Civil Aviation Secretary K N Srivastava and senior officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and AAI.
