“Among other areas, <g data-gr-id="23">Balyan</g> shall be leading the Group’s efforts towards setting up of liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal and liquefied natural gas procurement for the Bangladesh power project being implemented by Reliance Power as well as other opportunities in the oil and gas space,” the company said in a press statement.
<g data-gr-id="24">Balyan</g> completed a five-year term as managing director and chief executive officer of Petronet LNG, India’s largest liquefied natural gas importer, on July 15.
Reliance Power has recently announced setting up of a 3,000-mw liquefied natural gas-based power plant and a liquefied natural gas terminal in Bangladesh.
The total investment in the project, which will be implemented in phases, is estimated to be around Rs 18,000 crore. “<g data-gr-id="25">Balyan</g> brings along with him <g data-gr-id="27">rich</g> experience of over four decades in strategic planning, operations management, business development and human resources in the oil and gas sector,” the statement said. He will be based out of Delhi.
Prior to Petronet LNG, he was with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for nearly three decades. He was Director (Human Resource Development) at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation before being appointed <g data-gr-id="21">chief</g> executive officer of Petronet LNG.
