With the arrest of seven persons in separate incidents, more than 250 mobile phones, around 50 mother boards, 100 batteries, 2 country-made weapons with live cartridges and one stolen motorcycle were recovered.
In the first incident, two accused, Faique (20) and Ashif (20) were arrested from Jia Sarai, however, the third accused managed to flee from the spot. On search, two country-made pistols and two live cartridges were recovered from their possession.
During interrogation, accused persons disclosed name of their associate as Sharik (24), who was later arrested. He told police that he had committed series of snatching and robbery during late night hours along with his associates. At the instance of accused Sharik, 11 expensive phones which they had snatched or robbed from different parts of South Delhi were recovered. He further disclosed that they used to rob 8-10 mobile phones daily.
Sharik also told police that he used to dispose off the mobiles to one Amit Gulati (32), who was also arrested. As many as 239 mobile phones of different makes and models, 41 partially dismantled phone/mother boards, 102 mobile batteries were recovered from his possession. In an another incident, the team arrested 3 accused persons--Pradeep Kumar (38), Sonu Ansari (23) and Sarang Singh (22) were arrested and recovered 9 stolen phones from their possession.
