7 cases lodged for violating Model Code of Conduct in Noida

District administration and police have registered seven cases against various candidates for violating Model Code of Conduct and seized Rs 48.55 lakh here.

‘Total 15 persons were booked in seven cases lodged for violating Model Code of Conduct,’ senior superintendent of police Preetinder Singh said on Sunday.

‘To check use of money in elections, police teams have seized Rs 48.55 lakh which was suspected to be used in elections,’ he said.

‘To check use of liquor in elections, several liquor smugglers were also arrested and 17,519 litre illicit liquor meant for elections, seized,’ he said.

‘Total 147 country-made pistols and 163 live cartridges were also seized and 147 persons arrested and booked under the Arms Act,’ the SSP said.

‘Out of the 6,309 licenced arms, 6,226 have been deposited by people. Nine arms licences were cancelled for use in criminal activity,’ he said.
