6 arrested for vehicle theft, 38 cases solved

With the arrest of six men, the police claim to have solved 38 cases of vehicle theft in Delhi and NCR. 

In the first case, Mehandi Hasan Zaidi and Sehzad Ali were arrested for allegedly committing vehicle thefts in Delhi and NCR. The police said the duo used to dispose of the stolen vehicles in UP.

On the intervening night of April 9 and 10, the police tracked the movement of the duo at Brahampuri in Seelampur. A trap was laid and Zaidi and Ali were apprehended. The police recovered one Verna car, having a fake number plate, from their possession. According to the police, both Zaidi and Ali are residents of Muzaffarnagar in UP. 

The duo told the police that they had stolen the car from Inderlok. The police have recovered some equipment used in committing vehicle thefts and 35 car keys from the vehicle.

According to the police, the duo has confessed their involvement in over 50 vehicle theft cases in Delhi and NCR. They said that they used to hand over the stolen vehicles to Salman and Saleem Ahmed in Mujaffarnagar for sale. Salman and Saleem have also arrested, police said.

According to the police, Zaidi and Ali used to conduct a recee in an area to identify their targets. They mostly targeted luxury cars, police said. They allegedly used to unlock the vehicle and drive it outside Delhi within an hour.

With the arrest of Ali and Zaidi, the police claimed to have solved 33 cases of vehicle theft. 

A total of 19 stolen cars have been recovered from their possession, police said. 

In another case, one Tauhid and Pawan were arrested for motorbike theft. With their arrest, the police claimed to have solved five cases. Four stolen motorcycles have also been recovered from their possession, said a police official.
