In a shocking incident, a 50-year-old woman was found murdered at her residence in Vikaspuri area of west Delhi. Her body was stuffed inside the double bed kept in her bedroom. The accused remains unidentified as of yet.

The deceased has been identified as Somitra Devi, who used to live with her two sons at her residence. On Saturday morning, she went missing and her sons reported the matter to the police. A man-hunt was carried out to find her.

On Sunday, when a police team reached the house of the complainant for further queries, one of the officials smelt something foul. To establish the cause behind the foul smell, all rooms were scanned. Meanwhile another police official opened the bed box and found a dead body stuffed inside it.

According to police, various injury marks were found on Devi’s body. During the investigation it seemed that either a family member or someone who knew the deceased was behind the murder. A forensic team reached the crime spot and took  necessary evidences. It has been sent for further examination.

Her body has been preserved in the mortuary and the post-mortem is likely to take place on Monday morning. ‘So far around 20 persons including her two sons have been questioned in connection with the brutal murder. A case under the appropriate sections including 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against unknown person’, a police official said.

Prima facie it appears to be a case of personal rivalry as the house was not ransacked. Also no such evidences have been collected that pinpoints the involvement of any outsider or someone unknown to the victim. ‘Further investigations are underway,’ the official added.
