5-year-old child dies after car rams into school building

A five-year-old boy was crushed to death while another child suffered injuries when a speeding car rammed into a school building in Noida’s Sector 27 on Wednesday. Police have arrested the errant car driver Shalender Singh (27), a native of Kanpur who works for an NGO in the same sector.

Police said that the car driver, who was driving at high speed, first broke through the school gate and then demolished the boundary after crushing the child. Police said that the deceased child has been identified as Dharmender (5), a class 1 student while the injured Amit Vishwash(8), a class 2 student has been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in a private hospital. The duo was playing at the school ground at lunch time when the incident took place.

The accused driver Shalender said that he had gone inside the Accent car to pick pen drive and he took it for a drive but could not control it later. “The car was left in back gear when I started it. I pressed the accelerator and lost control. The car backed up with high speed and the incident took place.” Shalender said.

The locals beat up the driver and then handed him over to police. The deceased’s child parent belongs to the EWS group and has five children. Police have registered an FIR against him in Sector-20 police station. The car has been seized for technical examination.
