Delhi’s Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Tuesday evening registered an FIR against five teachers of a senior secondary school in Model Town after they were caught red-handed accepting bribes in return of allowing class 12 students to cheat during their final exams.

“The ACB raid was launched following a complaint on the anti-corruption helpline 1031 that some teachers of the Government Sarvodya Bal Vidyalaya, Rana Pratap Bagh (Model Town) were allowing and encouraging students of classes 11 and 12 to cheat in their final exams of the Open School after accepting bribes,” the Chief Minister’s officials said.

The callers on the helpline were advised to lay a trap for such teachers and a time was fixed for a raid by the ACB during the Class 12 Chemistry final exam on Tuesday.

The ACB laid a trap with the help of decoy customers that witnessed teachers accepting bribes at varying rates between Rs 20,000 and above from each student.

“The search carried out by the ACB resulted in recovery of chits from pockets of teachers containing written answers of questions asked in the exam, which were to be provided to students depending on bribes to be paid by them per question, “ claimed by government officials. The ACB has so far arrested one teacher and four others are being questioned.
