5-day international coffee fest in Bengaluru from 21 January

IICF 2014 will attract over 1000 delegates for the conference and workshops and over 10,000 visitors will witness the products displayed by 60 leading coffee companies.  The conference will be addressed by 40 global experts capturing marketing and production trends.

Workshops on processing, brewing and roasting will also be held by leading global companies like Pinhalense, Probat, Buhler, Bunn O Matic, Macro and Kaapi Machines during the festival.  IICF 2014 will also be attended by national and international players in the coffee industry.

Outlining the current trends in the coffee industry, Akhtar said, The fact that in-home and out of home consumption of coffee is on the rise is a pointer to the strong trends in the domestic market.

Coffee consumption in the country registered a steady 5-6 per cent growth per annum while the organized sector attributed to around 15 per cent growth. Overall coffee consumption in the country is pegged down to 1.2 lakh tonnes per annum.’

 Speaking at the event, additional secretary, Ministry of Commerce, J S Deepak said, ‘Coffee exports have performed extremely well in the first three months of the current crop year with a rise of 33 per cent.’

‘India exported 60,664 tonnes from October 2013-December 2013 compared to 45,510 tonnes during the same period last year,’ he added.
