A 45-year-old woman was allegedly shot dead by two unidentified motorbike-borne assailants outside her residence at outer Delhi’s Samaipur Badli area on Monday morning. The woman’s daughters later expressed suspicion over the attack on their mother allegedly being carried out at the behest of their father, who stays away from the family.
According to the police, two men reached the spot outside Narayani Devi’s residence on a bike and the pillion rider fired a gunshot which hit Narayani Devi on the shoulder. As the attackers sped away, her younger daughter rushed out hearing the gunshot. Narayani Devi was rushed to a nearby hospital by her neighbours where she succumbed to the injury during treatment. The police <g data-gr-id="19">has</g> registered a case of murder in this regard and took up <g data-gr-id="20">investigation</g>. The investigation later revealed that Devi had separated from her husband Lal Singh, reportedly over a prolonged dispute over the house in which she was living with her younger daughter Preeti. Her elder daughter, Kiran, is married and stays at her in-laws’ house, said a police official.
After the victim’s daughter expressed suspicion over their father, police detained Lal Singh, who lives in another locality in the same area. Singh was questioned for a long time, the official added.
