4 kidnappers nabbed, victim rescued

Four kidnappers have been arrested by the Delhi police a day after abducting a 17-year-old Sonu Kumar from West Sagarpur.

The kidnappers were identified as Lidar Khan alias Sahil Khan, 26, Ranjeet Sahni, 23, Lalit Kumar, 28, and Gagan, 29. A Maruti van, a motor cycle and a mobile phone were recovered from the kidnappers.

On 26 February, a PCR call was received at the Sagarpur police station from Chandan Kumar Sharma that his cousin Sonu Kumar went missing from 25 February. The complainant also had received a call from the kidnappers for a ransom amount of Rs 1 lakh.  Later, one of the kidnapper rang up the complainant to come near Hindon bridge with the ransom money at 11.30 pm.

‘The complainant was asked to carry fake money’ told R K Pandey, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police. ‘The kidnapper who came to collect the ransom money was caught by the police team, who was later identified as Lidar Khan, the Mastermind of the crime. On interrogation he has confessed that the victim is in the Maruti van along with his other accomplices,’ added Pandey.

The trio had earlier committed many ATM frauds including cheating Rs 5 lakh from an ATM of a private bank and were arrseted.  After release, they switched to kidnapping.
