According to police, the victim has been identified as Basanti who is a resident of Nazafgarh area. The incident took place at around 12.05 pm, when the victim jumped from Peera Garhi flyover in west Delhi.
A passerby made a call to the police control room and informed that a woman had jumped from a flyover and lay unconscious on the road.
A police team reached the spot and immediately rushed her to the nearby Maharaja Agrasen hospital.
She was critically injured and had received a fracture in her leg. There were bruises on her body too. ‘Her condition remain critical so she is unfit to record her statement,’ a police official said.
The exact reason behind her extreme step is yet to be ascertained but initially inquiry revealed that she was depressed over the behaviour of her family members.
Till late Sunday evening, no case has been registered as the victim’s statement could not be recorded due to her critical condition.

Kapil Grover, a resident of Hapur in Uttar Pradesh, jumped from platform number-2 of Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar metro station in east Delhi around 6.30 pm.
He received head and elbow injury after being hit by the Yellow line metro running between Jahangirpuri and Huda City Centre.
‘As the metro train was to take a halt, the victim did not receive serious injury. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him out of danger,’ said a police official.
‘No suicide note was recovered from his possession. He was identified with an identity card found from his possession. We are yet to ascertain the reason behind his extreme step,’ said the official.
The official further informed that Grover seems to be a psychiatric patient.

A day ago, his wife had visited her paternal house in Ahmedabad along with their four-year-old son. She has been informed about the suicide and is likely to arrive in Delhi on Monday after which the post-mortem examination will be conducted.
