308 criminals land in cop net within 48 hours

The police said this arrest was made under ‘Operation Flash Out’ from in and around the district. Earlier in September, the district police had also arrested 295 people named in various cases within 24 hours.

The district police informed that during the two-day drive, they have arrested as many as 207
criminals against whom non-bailable warrants have been issued. As many as 37 persons have been arrested for facing charges under Gangster Act, 16 for murder, 12 for loot and dacoity, 16 for heinous crimes, two for carrying a reward of Rs 5,000 each on their heads along with others.

Police said the arrests were made in response to a drive by SSP Dharmendra Singh that focused on rounding up as many on-the-run criminals as possible in a span of two days — Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

The drive was announced in the form of a competition, in which it was announced that the DSP, SHO or chowki in-charge showing the maximum number of arrests would get monetary rewards. The district police chief also announced awards to the policemen of various police stations of the district.

The SSP said the mass arrests were a result of preparations over the past 10 days. Almost the entire police force, constables, were involved, the officer said. “Learning from past experience, we managed the entire operation on micro level. We identified suspects, gathered gathered all the intelligence we had on them, gave the responsibility of the arrest of a suspect to the police officer best suited to nab him or her and with in a span of two days, we nabbed criminals from various districts of West UP, Delhi, Faridabad and other places. Earlier, we had arrested 295 people in a day and now we have held more that that,” said Singh. Kavinagar, Murad Nagar, Masoorie and Loni police were on top for arresting criminals.
