3-yr-old raped in Mehrauli

In yet another incident of crime committed against minors in the national Capital, a three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 26-year-old in south Delhi’s Mehrauli area on Saturday night. The girl was found in the woods after a nearly two-hour-search and she was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma
Centre. The girl’s condition is reported to be critical.

According to the police, the girl lives with her parents at a night shelter in south Delhi. On Saturday evening, she was playing with her friends but did not return home even after 9 pm when all her friends had returned and nobody had any clue about her whereabouts. Her worried parents started looking for her. When they couldn’t find her, they reported the matter to the police at around 10 pm.

After a nearly two-hour-search, the girl was found in the woods nearby Mehrauli. There were bruises on her body, and it was reportedly apparent that she had been brutally thrashed. She was immediately taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre where the doctors confirmed rape. The girl was admitted and her condition is said to be critical till Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, it emerged that the girl was last seen with a youth, who stayed at the same night shelter, on Saturday evening and he was immediately picked up for questioning. On being interrogated, he told the police that he had lured the girl on the pretext of buying sweets and took her to the isolated area, where he allegedly forced himself upon her, said a police official.

The accused was booked under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Acts. The police also began to investigate his past to check if he had any such previous cases against him. The accused works as a driver in a private firm.
