A 25-year-old senior analyst with American Express Company was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a rented accommodation in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area, police said on Tuesday. Her boyfriend who is a prime suspect claims it to be a suicide case whereas family cries foul.
The deceased has been identified as Shivani Nigam, who hails from Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh. For the past five <g data-gr-id="32">years</g> she had been
living with her friend in a rented accommodation in Uttam Nagar. Few days before her friend left the house and shifted somewhere else, since then Shivani was living alone.
Speaking to Millennium Post, Akshay Nigam (21), deceased’s brother, said: “Few hours before she was found dead, she had a word with me over phone and was constantly chatting with me on <g data-gr-id="41">whatsapp</g>. She gave me her debit card details so that I can book my train ticket from Barabanki to Delhi, as I got a job in the national Capital. She was extremely happy as I was coming to Delhi to stay with her.”
She was friends with one Ashish, who was her former colleague. The duo wanted to marry each other and recently she disclosed her relationship to her parents who had agreed for their marriage. “On Sunday, Ashish had dinner at her residence and also had a word with me too. Later, he went out for a smoke. After one and a half <g data-gr-id="36">hour</g> he returned with two of his friends and found Shivani hanging from a ceiling fan. After four hours he made a call to one of Shivani’s relative who lives in Delhi and informed her that they were taking Shivani to the hospital as she has fallen ill and was not uttering a single word,” Akshay said.
