25-yr-old resists rape bid but gets killed; Nigerian couple, 2 others arrested
A Nigerian couple, along with two other persons was arrested for injecting drugs into the body of a 25-year-old woman leading to her death after she opposed sexual assault by three men at one of their residence.
The victim, identified as Pooja along with her friend Meetu went to the residence of the Nigerian couple in Uttam Nagar area to take drugs. The couple— Ceathi and Uche came to India in 2010 on the pretext of some garments business. After residing in Mumbai for some time, they shifted to Delhi and stayed in Mohan Garden, Bindapur and Nawada area. They got drug addicted and also started organising drug parties. They also visited several clubs and pubs in Delhi-NCR regions.
On Sunday, Meetu made a call to the police informing them that her friend has been murdered and said that they both are drug addicts and used to visit home of one Nigerian family for the same. On late Saturday night, they went to their house and took drugs. Later, two friends of Uche, identified as Annu and Kannu also joined them.
“All the three males tried to sexually assault Pooja and Meetu and when they resisted, Pooja and Meetu were injected with some unknown drugs by Annu, Kannu and Uche. Pooja was allegedly given two injections which resulted in overdose of the drug and she died,” she told the police.
“Immediately, a team was constituted and the dead body was recovered from Madhu Vihar area. During the joint operation Uche and Ceathi were arrested from Dwarka Mod area while Annu and Kannu were arrested from Fatehabad in Haryana,” R A Sanjeev, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-west) said. He further added that the criminals have confessed that they had given overdose of drug to deceased when she resisted the sexual assault on her. The overdose resulted in death and they disposed of the body to eliminate the evidences. The body was carried on a scooty and the mobile of the deceased was retained by them.
“The investigation ascertained that the Nigerian nationals — Uche and Ceathi came to India in 2010 for some garment business but are overstaying in India after expiry of their visa. The investigation is being carried out to ascertain the source of the drugs,” he added.
