The repercussions of Sandy is being felt across the seven seas in the national Capital with 21 students and two teachers of Ahlcon Public School in Mayur Vihar stuck in the United States. Their flight back home has been cancelled due to the cyclone. Sources said their return has been postponed till the first week of November. They were scheduled to return on 29 October.
‘Due to the mayhem created by the cyclone Sandy and the emergency declared by the US government, they will now return on 5th or 6th November,’ sources said.
When contacted, SK Sharma, Principal of Ahlcon Public School, said the students were on an educational excursion sponsored by NASA. The excursion was for 10 days starting from the 19 October. The cyclone came on 28 October, a day before their tour was to end.
Sharma said there are 10 boys and 11 girls in the group. ‘All the children are safe but they are shaken by the experience,’ added Sharma.
