21-day sanitation drive launched in east Delhi

A three-week sanitation drive was launched in east Delhi on Monday. The drive was inaugurated by Delhi BJP president Vijender Gupta  at Navjeevan Adarsh School in Gautampuri area.

Gupta emphasised on door-to-door collection of garbage, which would help segregating it at the source and will make the process of proper disposal easy.

‘EDMC has started the 21-day sanitation drive keeping in view the coming festivals. The area should be clean,’ said S S Yadav, Commissioner of EDMC.

Yadav further said to achieve better results and enhance competition, prizes have been announced for the performance during the drive.

‘A prize distribution function for the purpose will be organised on 16 November at EDMC head office at Udyog Sadan, Patparganj Industrial Area. The award will be given to the team comprising elected members and the officials of the ward and zone concerned,’ added Yadav.

On the occasion, students presented cultural programmes giving social messages about the importance of sanitation in our life. On the occasion, mayor  Annapurna Mishra, Chairman of standing committee, Mahek Singh and senior officers and councillors were also present.
