Two complaints were filed against senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh for his controversial remark that even ‘rishi-<g data-gr-id="21">maharshis</g>’ (saints) used to eat beef to buttress his party chief Lalu Prasad’s claim that “Hindus also eat beef” on Saturday.
A complaint was filed in the court of Sitamarhi Chief Judicial Magistrate Court (CJM) Ram Bihari by an advocate Thakur Chandan Singh. The complaint was filed under sections 295(A) and 298 of IPC.
Another complaint was filed against him in Darbhanga Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court. A Darbhanga report said the complaint was filed by an advocate Vijay Kumar Chaudhary in the court of CJM VS Pandey.
Singh, who is RJD’s national vice-president, had said on Friday: “It is written in Vedas that rishi-<g data-gr-id="24">maharshi</g> (saints) also used to eat beef...There is no point discussing it at present (at a time when elections are held).” The senior RJD leader had said it is a matter of academic debate and there is no point discussing it in the elections.
