Slamming the Centre for setting up a committee to examine the possibility of constitution of a SIT for reinvestigation of the 1984 anti-Sikh riot cases, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday said the move was nothing but a delaying and diversionary tactic.
The party said that when AAP formed its government in Delhi, it responded to this long standing demand by recommending the constitution of an SIT. “All that was required to be done by the Home Ministry as to notify the recommendation sent by the Arvind Kejriwal government of Delhi for setting-up the SIT on January 30 this year. “The AAP had reminded Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 1 about the Delhi government’s recommendation which was pending with the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi since eight months,” party’s Delhi convener Ashutosh said. AAP said this is no different than the games played by the Congress regimes at various points of times.
