A month after it denied taking a decision on enhancing the compensation for the next of kin of the 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims, Home Minister Rajnath Singh will distribute the cheques of enhanced compensation to 84 Anti-Sikh Riot victims at Tilak Vihar on Friday.
Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung, West Delhi MP Pravesh Verma and Delhi Chief Secretary D M Spolia will also be present on this occasion. The decision was first made known to the media on October 30, which reported it extensively. A week later the Union government, when asked by the Election Commission of India, said no decision had been taken to give an additional compensation to each of the families of the persons killed the anti-Sikh riots.
