A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 19-year-old cousin in her house at Sohna near Gurgaon. The incident occurred on Monday evening when the child was alone in her house. This is the second rape of a five-year-old in the national capital, where the abduction and brutal rape of another five-year-old girl on 15 April has sparked a public outrage. In that case, the victim had been rescued on 17 April.
Gurgaon police commissioner Alok Mittal said the accused in the Gurgaon rape case, who has been arrested, had gone to his maternal uncle's house on Monday night and when he found his cousin alone at home, he raped her. When the family returned home, they found the child lying unconscious and the cousin, Ajay, missing. The child's medical examination at Civil Hospital confirmed rape, Mittal said.
