A total of 150 candidates remain in the fray for the Lok Sabha polls in seven parliamentary constituencies after the withdrawal of nominations by six candidates on Wednesday.
‘Six candidates pulled out from the poll fray on Wednesday, which was the last date for withdrawal of nominations. Nomination papers of 156 candidates were accepted after scrutiny on 24 March 24,’ said an election official. Out of six, five are independent candidates, while the remaining one is from Jammu and Kashmir National Panther’s Party.
Prominent leaders Kapil Sibal (Cong), Harsh Vardhan (BJP), Rajmohan Gandhi (AAP), Ajay Maken (Cong), Meenakshi Lekhi (BJP) and Sandeep Dikshit (Cong) among others are in the fray for seven constituencies here.
Bhojpuri actor-singer Manoj Tiwari and actor Biswajit Chatterjee are also contesting elections on BJP and TMC tickets respectively. While Tiwari is contesting from North East constituency, Chatterjee has been fielded from New Delhi.
