Swift action of Delhi Police on Wednesday helped in tracing a missing 12-year-old girl from the clutches of her 25-year-old tormentor, a tuition teacher who kidnapped her from near her house in Rohini Sector 9 in Outer Delhi. She was reportedly kidnapped on April 7.
Speaking to Millennium Post, the girl revealed how she was being stalked by the accused, Neelu, for more than three months. A student of Class V, she used to attend tuitions near her house along with her two siblings. Finding Neelu’s behaviour strange, she changed her tuition classes.
On being asked why she did not tell this to her mother, a bedridden heart patient, the girl said: “I informed my 9-year-old sister and a friend about him.” While going towards a friend’s place to get back a school copy, he forcefully took the girl away and kept her in a dingy room in Noida for five days where he allegedly raped her. According to the girl’s mother, it happened on April 7 at around 6 pm when her daughter had gone to take her copy. Living with her grandparents in Nepal, the girl had come to live with her parents in Delhi last year.
“The accused had switched off his mobile phone the day he kidnapped the minor girl. It became difficult for the team to trace his exact location. However, the day he was arrested, he switched on his phone and with the help of his call detail records, we raided the flat where he was found sleeping in Noida,” said a senior investigating officer.
“After the girl’s family had posted hundreds of posters around the city, Neelu got alerted when his room-mates with whom he lived in Rohini told him that cops were searching for him,” said police.
Police have registered a case against Neelu under sections of kidnapping. Awaiting for the medical report, police will in all probability add sections of rape. Meanwhile, the minor girl is being given counselling sessions.
