Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal’s indefinite fast against ‘inflated’ power and water bills entered the third day on Monday, with the party claiming a total of 1.12 lakh people expressing their support for Kejriwal’s civil disobedience movement.

The turnout at the fast centre in eastern part of the city was thin, what was countered by the party that the real work is to reach out to people and not the larged numbers. ‘Crowd is not needed at the protest spot. The work of volunteers and people who agreed with the movement was to spread out to every corner of the city to urge people to rise and revolt against the injustice of unfairly hiked water and electricity rates,’ he said assuring that he was in good shape and there is no concern about his health.

He further said, ‘What are you so scared about? Why can’t you unite and throw out the henchmen of discoms when they come to your neighbourhoods to snap your electricity connections?’

An AAP statement said that a total of 1.12 lakh people have expressed their support for Kejriwal’s Civil Disobedience Movement. ‘75,737 more protest letters to Sheila Dikshit were signed on Sunday taking the final count to 1,12,478. Through the letters people are urging the chief minister to put a stop to corruption and hence spiralling prices of basic commodities like water and electricity which is burning a hole in the pockets of common man,’ it said.

The statement said that Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia highlighted the discrepancy in the government’s versions about whether the discoms are making profit or running in losses. ‘While Lt Governor Tejender Khanna says the discoms have made a profit of Rs 30,000 crore, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit claims they have made losses amounting to Rs 20,000 crore!’ said the statement.

Kejriwal said he was not scared of calling Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit an agent of the discoms. AAP said Kejriwal told the people that he admitted as much in the court where the chief minister has filed a defamation suit against him and was ready to prove the charge with hard evidence.

Kejriwal, on the charges of spreading anarchy, said it was in the houses of the corrupt people that this anarchy was going to spread.

‘For the people, there is no choice. It’s a fight between the right and the wrong. If this is anarchy, so be it.’
